A few years ago, I climbed up on the roof, using a 9 foot stepladder. Bad idea. When I started to come down, I put one foot on the top of the stepladder and slipped. But instead of falling off the roof and impaling myself on the spikes on top of the gate or breaking my neck, I found myself perfectly horizontal, about an inch from a soft area of the yard about 8 feet NE and 9 feet lower from my previous position. I fell the last inch or two and wasn’t even bruised. This was effortless and inadvertent. It happened before I was even aware that I was falling off the roof. Clearly, the deep unconscious mind has unfathomable powers.
