Prophecies About Thales

If this chapter appears to be an afterthought, it is only because I couldn't decide whether to include it. Some might consider this exaltation of personality, which is the last thing Thales would wish. But, let the chips fall where they may. The prophecies fit Thales, and if nothing else, this fact is an addition to our knowledge of prophecy.

The first prophecy which refers to Thales was made by Cheiro (see PSYCHIC, 9/72). He predicted a great decline of civilization, in which people would become anonymous technologists, enslaved by benevolent despots vainly trying to preserve the crumbling foundations of society and democracy. This would continue until a great genius appears, who will usher in a golden age for America and the world. He will scrap both the system of government and the system of economics. This first half of this prophecy has already come true. Whether Thales' ideas will succeed in making the second half true, only time will tell.

A second prophecy comes from the BOOK OF THE HOPI by Frank Waters. This is the ancient legend of Pahana, a long lost white brother, who would return to them the missing corner of the sacred fire clan tablet, deliver them from their persecutors, and work out with them a new and universal brotherhood of man. Before this happens, the Hopi would be overcome by a strange people, would themselves be destroyed by a devastating war started by India, China, Egypt, Palestine and Africa. The reason this prophecy might refer to Thales is his incorporation of Amerindian mythic insights into empirical religion, and his insistence as a humanist in the equal importance of the Amerindian culture for the world synthesis. The missing corner of the tablet symbolizes all the insights from many other sources which must be added to those of the Hopi for the world synthesis. The Amerindians will be liberated only by the recognition of their unique importance by their former oppressors.

The third prophecy comes from the Seth material (see REVELATION: THE DIVINE FIRE, by Steiger, p. 215). Thales is the "third personality" who will begin a new religious drama, who will straighten out Christianity and set up a new system of thought. He will not be generally known for who he is and there will be no glorious proclamation to which the whole world will bow. He will undermine religious organizations, not unite them. He will provide methods by which each individual can attain intimate contact with his own higher self. These spiritual changes will escape any organizational bounds, and the resulting changes in consciousness will produce changes in social and governmental structures.
